The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has stated it plans to initiate an investigation to determine whether to impose antidumping (AD) measures and countervailing duties (CVD) on imports of galvanized steel wire from China.
Chinese galvanized steel wire exports to the US amounted to a total value of $53.9 million in 2010, up from just $5.27 million in 2009.
The US International Trade Commission (USITC) must first determine whether domestic galvanized steel wire producers are harmed due to the said imports. The USITC is expected to issue its decision on May 16.
