US Steel launches new electrical steel line at Big River Steel

United States Steel Corporation (US Steel) has announced that it has launched its new, non-grain-oriented electrical steel line at its Big River Steel plant in Osceola, Arkansas.

The new line, which has an annual capacity of 200,000 mt, will utilize up to 90 percent scrap as raw material and will reduce carbon emissions by up to 70-80 percent compared to traditional integrated steelmaking.
