According to
US export data, monthly steel exports in December decreased 0.3 percent from November to total 659,385 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows a 0.2 percent decrease. In terms of value,
US steel exports in December totaled $841.1 million, compared to $854.1 million in November and $859.5 million in December 2015.
Steel exports to Canada in December decreased 9.5 percent from the preceding month to 301,323 mt, and decreased 4.8 percent from December 2015. Exports to Mexico increased by 4.9 percent month-on-month to 278,357 mt, which is up 3.9 percent from a year earlier.
Other top destinations for
US steel exports in December include: Italy, at 11,469 mt; China, at 6,943 mt; India, at 6,381 mt; Korea, at 5,178 mt; and Brazil, at 3,868 mt.
Major steel products exported in December include cut-length plates, at 89,711 mt; HDG, at 89,426 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 58,453 mt; cold rolled sheets, at 45,606 mt; and plates in coils, at 42,008 mt.
