US steel exports decline 3.7 percent in October

According to US export data, monthly steel exports in October decreased 3.7 percent from September to total 694,791 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows a 2.7 percent decline. In terms of value, US steel exports in October totaled $912.2 million, compared to $912.3 million in September and $954.6 million in October 2015.
 
Steel exports to Mexico in October decreased 3.2 percent from the preceding month to 285,190 mt, but increased 11.6 percent from October 2015. Exports to Canada decreased by 4.7 percent month-on-month to 336,515 mt, which is down 10.7 percent from a year earlier. 
 
Other major destinations for US steel exports in October include: India, at 7,442 mt; Brazil, at 6,818 mt; China, at 6,441 mt; Belgium, at 4,639 mt; and Italy, at 3,723 mt.
 
Major products exported in October include HDG, at 101,006 mt; cut-length plates, at 67,306 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 61,832 mt; cold rolled sheets, at 47,754 mt; and hot rolled bars, at 37,620 mt.
