US standard pipe imports up 3.8 percent in May

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 66,942 mt in May 2023, up 3.8 percent from April and down 30.0 percent from May 2022 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $86.4 million in May 2023, compared to $88.7 million in April and $160.9 million in May 2022.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in May, with 16,542 mt, compared to 15,027 mt in April and 14,084 mt in May 2022. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in May include Thailand, with 14,634 mt; UAE, with 7,461 mt; Spain, with 6,491 mt; and Vietnam, with 4,368 mt.
