US standard pipe imports rise 1.4 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 86,174 mt in February 2017, up 1.4 percent from January and up 36.1 percent from February 2016 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $77.9 million in February 2017, compared to $66.9 million in the previous month and $54.6 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in February, with 16,660 mt, compared to 16,259 mt in January and 16,915 mt in February 2016. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in February include Thailand, with 12,383 mt; Turkey, with 12,299 mt; Korea, with 10,559 mt; United Arab Emirates, with 9,776 mt; and Vietnam, with 4,566 mt.
