US rig count increases slightly while Canadian count surges

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 29, the US rotary rig count increased by one to 463 following a 15-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 86, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by three to 374. The overall rig count is still down by 411 rigs, year-on-year.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 17 in the week ending July 29 to 119 following a seven-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 96 from the same week a year ago.
