US rig count drops by 7 week-over-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending Sept. 29, 2023, the US rotary rig count dropped by 7 to 623.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by 2 to 116, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 5 to 502. The overall US rig count is down by 142 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 1 to 191 rigs in the week ending Sept. 29. The Canadian rig count is down by 22 rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
