US rebar imports surge 106 percent in October over September

According to the statistics released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC), US rebar imports in October increased by 106 percent month on month, reaching 30,039 metric tons, while a year-on-year decrease of 10 percent was registered.

In the month in question, US rebar imports from Turkey stood at 18,617 metric tons; in September the US did not import any rebar from Turkey. The US' second largest rebar import source in October was Mexico with 9,517 metric tons, down 20 percent over September.

Meanwhile, in the first ten months of this year, the US imported 348,378 metric tons of rebar, down 58 percent year on year. In the given period, rebar imports from Mexico constituted 48 percent of total US rebar imports, while Turkish rebar imports accounted for 43 percent of the total.
