US rebar exports down 1.8 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 23,571 mt in May 2023, down 1.8 percent from April and down 20.9 percent from May 2022. By value, rebar exports totaled $21.9 million in May, compared to $21.8 million in the previous month and $30.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in May with 19,273 mt, compared to 17,812 mt in April and 25,686 mt in May 2022. Other top destinations included Bahamas, with 2,446 mt; and Dominican Republic, with 1,029 mt.
