US raw steel production increased last week (ended December 4) with output rising 2.7 percent from the previous week. In the previous week, US raw steel production had dropped 2.8 percent compared to the week before.
Total raw steel production in the United States last week amounted to 1,697,000 nt. This figure represents an increase of 14.5 percent from the 1,482,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 70.2 percent in the week ending December 4, compared to 68.3 percent in the prior week and 62.3 percent in the same week last year.
