US OCTG imports fall 26.3 percent in May

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 234,094 mt in May 2017, down 26.3 percent from April but up 308.3 percent from May 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $209.5 million in May 2017, compared to $280.5 million in the previous month and $59.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in May, with 96,567 mt, compared to 119,459 mt in April and 17,410 mt in May 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in May include Mexico, with 33,003 mt; Argentina, with 20,197 mt; Canada, with 16,328 mt; Austria, with 10,888 mt; and the Philippines, with 8,468 mt.
