US mechanical tubing imports down 2.4 percent in May

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 56,237 mt in May 2023, down 2.4 percent from April and down 13.5 percent from May 2022 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $109.4 million in May 2023, compared to $121.9 million in April and $128.1 million in May 2022.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in May, with 15,452 mt, compared to 14,723 mt in April and 17,358 mt in May 2022. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in May include Canada, with 10,157 mt; China, with 6,085 mt; Germany, with 4,545 mt; and India, with 4,436 mt.
