US line pipe imports down 18.3 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 55,540 mt in September 2023, down 18.3 percent from August and down 31.6 percent from September 2022 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $85.2 million in September 2023, compared to $101.4 million in August and $136.5 million in September 2022.

The US imported the most line pipe from South Korea in September, with 27,804 mt, compared to 35,829 mt in August and 36,429 in September 2022. Other top sources of imported line pipe in September include Brazil, with 8,395 mt; Mexico, with 5,195 mt; Canada, with 3,256 mt; and India, with 2,693 mt.
