The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) announced on May 16 its decision to continue its investigation of certain circular welded carbon quality steel line pipe from China and South Korea after receipt of the petition filed by three US pipe companies and the union that represents the workers in these companies.
These three US companies are US Steel Corporation, Maverick Pipe Corporation, and Tex-Tube Company.
The ITC has determined with affirmative vote of all six commissioners that there is a reasonable indication that a US industry is materially injured by reason of imports of certain circular welded carbon quality steel line pipe from China and South Korea that is allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.
As a result of the ITC's affirmative decision, the US Department of Commerce (US DOC) will keep conducting its antidumping investigations on imports of this product from China and South Korea, with preliminary countervailing duty decisions to be reached by 27 June 2008 and preliminary antidumping decisions by 10 September 2008.
The US DOC had initiated an antidumping investigation into imports of certain circular welded carbon quality steel line pipe from China and South Korea on April 24, 2008
