The US International Trade Commission (ITC) made a unanimous affirmative determination Thursday in the preliminary phase of the antidumping investigation of steel wire hangers from China.

The ITC members voted six to zero, affirming that there is a "reasonable indication" of material injury to the US wire hanger industry as a result of Chinese wire imports allegedly sold in the US at less than fair value.

As a result of the ITC's affirmative determination, the US DOC will continue its antidumping investigation of steel hangers from China, with its preliminary determination due on or about January 7, 2008. However, a finding of "critical circumstances," would lead to the retroactive imposition of dumping duties to the beginning of October 2007.

The ITC's determination follows the filing on July 31, 2007 of an antidumping petition by M&B Metal Products Company Inc.
