US iron and steel scrap exports rise 18.2 percent in June

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,299,498 mt in June, an 18.2 percent increase month-on-month and a 21.9 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in June with 307,470 mt, which increased 73.5 percent month-on-month and surged up 249.3 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in June include: Mexico, with 186,176 mt; Taiwan, with 128,815 mt; Pakistan, with 127,771 mt; and Kuwait, with 88,508 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $395.6 million in June, an 8.7 percent increase compared to May and a 16.8 percent increase compared to June 2016.
