US iron and steel scrap exports rise 10.5 percent in October

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,239,422 mt in October, a 10.5 percent increase month-on-month and a 34.7 percent increase year-on-year.
 
Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in October with 281,585 mt, which is up 4.7 percent month-on-month and up 9.6 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in October include: Mexico, with 148,039 mt; China, with 129,719 mt; India, with 123,110 mt; and Korea, with 99,620 mt.
 
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $344.5 million in October, a 15.1 percent increase compared to September and a 27.7 percent increase compared to October 2015.
