US iron and steel scrap exports drop 28.3 percent in March

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 907,495 mt in March, a 28.3 percent decrease month-on-month and an 8.8 percent decrease year-on-year.
 
China was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in March with 155,719 mt, which surged up 145.7 percent month-on-month and increased 262.0 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in March include: Taiwan, with 138,645 mt; Turkey, with 105,194 mt; Mexico, with 96,085 mt; and Canada, with 92,568 mt.
 
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $305.3 million in March, a 15.9 percent decrease compared to February and a 20.8 percent increase compared to March 2016.
