US HRC exports fall 8.8 percent in December, rise 7.1 percent for full-year 2016

US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 58,453 mt in December, down 8.8 percent from November and down 6.3 percent from December 2015 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $41.5 million in December, compared to $45.1 million in the previous month and $39.6 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in December, with 40,421 mt, compared to 34,630 mt in November and 39,915 mt in December 2015. Other top destinations included Canada, with 17,787 mt. No other destinations with significant tonnage (over 1,000 mt) were recorded for the month.
 
As for the full year 2016, US HRC exports totaled 684,524 mt, a 7.1 percent increase from 2015. By value, HRC exports totaled $489.4 million in 2016, up 2.8 percent from 2015.
