US hot rolled bar exports drop 20.5 percent in July

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 34,907 mt in July, down 20.5 percent from June but up 8.7 percent from July 2016 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $36.1 million in July, compared to $43.3 million in the previous month and $31.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in July with 17,418 mt, compared to 22,185 mt in June and 14,008 mt in July 2016. Other top destinations included Canada, with 16,249 mt. There were no other significant destinations (over 1,000 mt) of US export hot rolled bar in July.
