US Freight TSI bounces back in March

The US Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics' (BTS) Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) rose by 1.9 percent in March from February, following a decline in February and reaching the highest level since July 2008.

The Freight TSI rose 1.3 percent in Q1 2011-the seventh consecutive quarterly increase since Q2 2009. Freight shipments in March are also up 4.8 percent year-on-year and reached a 33-month high despite a slight slowdown in the rate of growth in early 2011 compared to late 2010.
