US factory production up 0.5 percent in October

According to US Federal Reserve data, factory production rose 0.5 percent in October, following a 0.1 percent rise in September.

Data from the US Department of Labor shows that producer prices also experienced an increase over the month, growing 0.4 percent since September, while the cost of a new car dropped 3 percent in October, which represents the biggest decline for the automotive industry in over four years. 

Automotive output increased 1.6 percent last month, while October auto sales reached a 12.3 million annual pace, the highest in over a year.
