The United States Department of Commerce (US DOC) has announced the preliminary results of an administrative review of the antidumping order on certain hot rolled carbon steel products from Thailand.
The US DOC's preliminary findings, announced Friday, showed that in the case of one of the Thai companies under review, G Steel Public Company Ltd., sales of the subject merchandise produced by the company were not made at less than normal value during the period of review, November 1, 2005 through October 31, 2006. Therefore, the DOC's preliminary decision is to do away with the duty imposed on G. Steel's products, which is currently at 3.86 percent.
In the case of the other Thai company under review, Nakornthai Strip Mill Public Company Ltd., the DOC found that the company did not have any shipments, entries, or sales of the subject merchandise during the period of review. As a result of the findings, the DOC is rescinding the review of Nakornthai.
The administrative review is in response to requests from US Steel (petitioner), Nucor Corporation, and G Steel Public Company Ltd. The antidumping duty order on hot rolled steel from Thailand was first imposed in 2001.
The final determination in the case is expected to be announced within the next two months.
