The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced its affirmative preliminary results concerning the countervailing duty (CVD) investigation on imports of finished carbon steel flanges from India.
Accordingly, the DOC calculated preliminary subsidy rates of 2.76 percent for Indian exporter/producer of the product Norma (India) Ltd and its three cross-owned affiliates, USK Exports Private Limited, Uma Shanker Khandelwal & Co., Bansidhar Chiranjilal, and 3.66 percent for RN Gupta & Company Limited, while it also established a preliminary subsidy rate of 3.21 percent for all other producers/exporters in India.
The investigation was launched upon the complaint filed by the domestic producers Weldbend Corporation and Boltex Mfg. Co. alleging that the Indian government gave significant subsidies to the Indian carbon steel flanges industry and accordingly caused severe detriment to American jobs and manufacturing.
The DOC is scheduled to announce its final determination on or about April 11, 2017.
The products subject to preliminary countervailing duty currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7307.91.5010 and 7307.91.5050.
