US DOC completes sunset review of HRC from three countries

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced Thursday the results of its expedited sunset review of the countervailing duty orders on hot-rolled carbon steel flat products from India, Indonesia, and Thailand.

The DOC made affirmative determinations with respect to all countries, finding that revocation of these orders would be likely to lead to the continuation or recurrence of countervailable subsidies.

The DOC had previously made affirmative determinations in its sunset review of the antidumping orders on hot-rolled carbon steel flat products from China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Ukraine.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is conducting a full sunset review of these orders as well as the countervailing duty orders on hot-rolled carbon steel flat products from India, Indonesia, and Thailand. Parties will have the opportunity to file briefs, testify at the ITC's public hearing, and submit comments. The ITC will also send questionnaires to US and foreign producers, US importers, and US purchasers.

A negative injury determination by the ITC will result in the revocation of an antidumping or countervailing duty order, regardless of the DOC's determination in its sunset review.
