On Monday, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) released its preliminary determination in the antidumping investigation of steel concrete reinforcing bars (rebar) from Turkey

The DOC selected two companies as respondents in this review: Ekinciler Dis Ticaret A.S. / Ekinciler Demir ve Celik Sanayi A.S. (Ekinciler); and Habas Sinai ve Tibbi Gazlar Istihsal Endustrisi A.S. (Habas). The DOC has preliminarily calculated dumping margins of 3.42 percent for Ekinciler and 0.00 (zero) percent for Habas.

The DOC has decided to apply the Ekinciler rate of 3.42 percent to two other companies: to Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. and also to Nursan Celik Sanayi ve Haddecilik / Nursan Dis Ticaret A.S.

The review period was April 1, 2006 through March 31, 2007.

The DOC intends to issue its final results for this review in September 2008.  Until then, the current dumping duty deposit rates will remain in effect for the nine Turkish producers/exporters subject to the investigation; the rates in question are as follows:
