US cut-length plate imports down 29.7 percent in July

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 46,178 mt in July 2023, down 29.7 percent from June and down 0.9 percent from July 2022 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $67.0 million in July 2023, compared to $79.6 million in June and $68.0 million in July 2022.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Canada in July, with 17,891 mt, compared to 15,359 mt in June and 10,410 mt in July 2022. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in July include South Korea, with 13,168 mt; Sweden, with 3,153 mt; Japan, with 2,989 mt; and Brazil, with 2,618 mt.
