US cut-length plate exports up 38.0 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 119,393 mt in May 2023, up 38.0 percent from April and up 41.3 percent from May 2022. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $189.3 million in May, compared to $133.8 million in the previous month and $152.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Mexico in May with 71,128 mt, compared to 50,622 mt in April and 42,808 mt in May 2022. Other top destinations included Canada, with 35,424 mt; Brazil, with 2,775 mt; Peru, with 2,357 mt; and Sweden, with 2,045 mt.
