US CRC imports up 85.2 percent in May

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheet totaled 128,463 mt in May 2023, up 85.2 percent from April but down 3.4 percent from May 2022 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $150.8 million in May 2023, compared to $85.6 million in April and $204.7 million in May 2022.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in May, with 42,715 mt, compared to 38,039 mt in April and 44,971 mt in May 2022. Other top sources of imported CRC in May include Australia, with 25,539 mt; Sweden, with 12,227 mt; South Korea, with 9,590 mt; and Mexico, with 8,214 mt.
