US CRC imports rise 32.6 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 251,135 mt in June 2017, up 32.6 percent from May and up 54.9 percent from June 2016 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $186.6 million in June 2017, compared to $145.6 million in the previous month and $112.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Turkey in June, with 46,652 mt, compared to 28,337 mt in May and 14,597 mt in June 2016. Other top sources of imported CRC in June include Russia, with 32,899 mt; Canada, with 29,761 mt; Sweden, with 19,409 mt; Mexico, with 18,664 mt; and Australia, with 18,599 mt.
