US cold finished bar imports up 13.4 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 8,469 mt in March 2023, up 13.4 percent from February but down 10.0 percent from March 2022 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $17.4 million in March 2023, compared to $15.3 million in February and $18.7 million in March 2022.

The US imported the most cold finished bar from Canada in March, with 1,936 mt, compared to 1,828 mt in February and 2,249 mt in March 2022. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in March include Germany, with 1,491 mt; and Italy, with 1,259 mt.
