US-based Neapco will invest $59 million in Coahuila-Mexico

The auto parts producer Neapco, based in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, will invest $59 million dollars to expand its production plant in the northern city of Saltillo, Coahuila, the state government reported in a message on Twitter.

Data from the National Auto Parts Industry (INA, business chamber) shows that Coahuila (the seventh largest economy in Mexico for its contribution to GDP) is the largest producer of auto parts in Mexico with a participation of 15.2 percent in the national total, followed by Chihuahua with 13.0 percent and Nuevo León with 11.4 percent.

According to the local government, the expansion project is the 44th investment received by Coahuila in the first half of the year.

Neapco will generate 150 direct jobs in its new 20,000 square meter plant (on a 34,000 square meter lot) in Mexico.

In addition to the United States and Mexico, the company has production plants in Germany, Poland (2), Turkey and China (4).
