Despite a slowdown in a number of economic indicators the last couple months, the US' auto sector remains strong, evidenced by another month of improved auto sales.

In June, General Motors' auto sales totaled 248,750, a 16 percent year-on-year increase as all four of GM's brands experienced sales growth. June sales were also the highest for the company since September 2008. Meanwhile, Ford Motor Company's year-to-date US sales through June reflected a 7 percent increase, while June sales were up 7 percent from June 2011 at 207,759. Chrysler Group reported US sales of 144,811 units, a 20 percent increase from last June and group's best June sales since 2007. June 2012 also represented the 27th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains for Chrysler.
