US auto sales fall 6.9 percent in July

US auto sales totaled 1,416,743 units in July 2017, a 6.9 percent drop from July 2016 totals. Year-to-date totals reached 9,873,579 units for the January-July period, down 2.9 percent from the same period of 2016.

General Motors topped the manufacturer sales list in July with 226,107 units, dropping 15.4 percent year-on-year. Other top sales brands for the month include Toyota, with 222,057 units (up 3.6 percent year-on-year); Ford, with 199,318 units (down 7.4 percent year-on-year); Fiat Chrysler, with 161,477 units (down 10.5 percent year-on-year); American Honda, with 150,980 units (down 1.2 percent year-on-year); Nissan/Infiniti/Mitsubishi, with 136,320 units (down 2.9 percent year-on-year); and Hyundai-Kia, with 110,466 units (down 18.2 percent year-on-year).
