US and Canadian rig counts still plunge

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 20 the US rig count decreased by 56 to 1,069 after a 67-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by 15 to 242, whereas the oil rig count decreased by 41 to 825. The overall rig count is down by 734 from 1,803 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 80 in the week ending March 20to reach 140 after a 80-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is down by 249 from 389 rigs during the same week a year ago.
