US and Canadian rig counts rise week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending Oct. 13, 2023, the US rotary rig count increased by three to 622.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 117, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 501. The overall US rig count is down by 147 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 13 to 193 rigs in the week ending Oct. 13. The Canadian rig count is down by 23 rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
