US and Canadian rig counts maintain decline

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 2 the US rig count decreased by 20 to 1,028, after a 21-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by 11 to 222, whereas the oil rig count decreased by 11 to 802. The overall rig count is down by 790 from 1,818 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 20 in the week ending April 2 to 100, after a 20-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is down by 135 from 235 rigs during the same week a year ago.
