US and Canadian rig counts fall by double digits

According to the latest report from Baker Hughes, for the weekend April 27, the US rig count was down 27 from the previous week to 1,945, but still up 127 year-on-year. The oil rig count fell by nine to 1,328 (up 402 year-on-year), and the gas rig count declined by 18 to 613 and is down 269 from the same week a year ago.

Canada's rig count continued its downward trend, falling by 12 in the last week. The Canadian rig count now stands at 134 and is up one year-over-year.
