US and Canadian rig counts end October on an uptrend

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 31 the US rig count increased by two to 1,929, following a nine-rig increase the week before. The gas rig count increased by 14 to 346, whereas the oil rig count decreased by 14 to 1,582. The overall rig count is up by 187 from 1,742 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three in the week ending October 31 to reach 429 following a nine-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is up by 35 from 394 rigs during the same week a year ago.
