Ural Steel, a steel producing subsidiary of Russian iron ore and steel producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest), has announced that it will take part in a workgroup for a new edition of national standards (GOST) for rolled steel for bridge constructions and will participate in a joint technology implementation project in order to develop its most promising production lines.

The decision was taken at a coordinating board meeting on bridge and construction steel supplies held at Ural Steel, during which prospects for future cooperation and opportunities in customized supplies were discussed.

Ural Steel managing director Nazim Efendiev noted that participation in the Sochi 2014 Olympics and the World Cup 2018 programs had become the main priority in the plant's work. "It is very important for all of us - steel producers, bridge builders, construction plants. We should be ready to meet all needs and provide the necessary volumes and quality," he said.

Ural Steel also announced the full compliance of its products with the new ‘2.05.03-84 Bridges and Tubes' building regulations which become effective from May 20, 2011.
