Russia-based leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer Metalloinvest has announced that its integrated iron and steel plant Ural Steel has completed the upgrade of its sintering plant No. 4. The project was the part of the company’s investment program, and is aimed at increasing sinter production efficiency at Ural Steel. As a result of the modernization, the plant’s production capacity has increased by 10 percent, from 763,000 mt per year to the maximum level of 846,000 mt, and its equipment can now operate uninterrupted.

In accordance with the project, most of the equipment was replaced by more efficient models. The remainder of the plant had undergone a complete overhaul. The replacement of the exhauster - the main component of the sintering plant - allowed improvement of the sintering process and output quality, while increasing the plant’s capacity. Instrumentation and automated mechanisms at the plant were also upgraded.
