Update: AK Steel resumes production at coke plant after deadly fire

As SteelOrbis previously reported, an explosion and fire Thursday, March 31 resulted in the death of an employee at West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel's Ashland, Kentucky coke plant.

Operations were temporarily halted following the incident and as of Friday, April 1, AK Steel has resumed partial production at Ashland.

In December, AK Steel announced that it plans to close the Ashland coke plant by June 30.
