Unicoil’s cold rolled mill construction is near by

Unicoil which is the first Saudi Arabian company to manufacture prepainted steel products, is planning to construct a cold rolled mill. However, the mill's building contractors have not been decided upon yet. Unicoil is going to select either Italian steel equipment maker Danieli or Voest-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau (VAI) of Austria. The final details of offers and the mill's requirements are still being discussed between Unicoil and the building contractors. Also, the project's scale and investment cost are part of the on going negotiations. Unicoil stated that the company will have to make the final decision in two or three weeks due to offers valid date will be end of June. The mill's production is scheduled to initiate in 2005. After the construction, the new cold rolled mill will have between 250'000-400'000 tons of annual capacity. Furthermore, the 60% of cold rolled are being galvanized in order to supply the requirements of Unicoil's painting line which is located in Al-Jubail, east coast of Saudi Arabia with an annual capacity of 120'000 tons. The balance 40% is sold to the market.
