Ukrainian traders’ rolled steel purchases rise by 14 percent in Jan

In January, Ukraine's large and medium steel trading companies purchased about 79,192 mt of rolled steel products, including purchases from local mills and also imports - up 14 percent year on year, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency has reported citing the Ukrainian Association of Metal Traders.

Accordingly, in the first month of the current year the main local steel traders decreased their imports of rolled steel products by 4.1 percent year on year to 6,675 mt. Meanwhile, the main domestic suppliers of rolled steel products to Ukrainian trading companies were Zaporizhstal, Azovstal and ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, with the deliveries in January amounting to 14,848 mt, 14,506 mt and 13,522 mt respectively.

In December 2009, local trading companies had purchased 110,293 mt of rolled steel products, including 101,858 mt from domestic steelmakers and 8,435 mt of imports.
