Ukraine’s semi-finished steel exports down 31.7 percent in H1

In the January-June period of this year, Ukraine exported 3.72 million mt of semi-finished steel products, down 31.7 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2014, worth a total of $1.34 billion, down 48.7 percent year on year, according to the data released by State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

The exports mostly went to Egypt (28.17 percent), Turkey (25.01 percent) and Italy (18.89 percent) in terms of value.

In the first six months of this year, Ukraine imported 3,600 mt of semi-finished steel products, down 82.6 percent year on year, worth a total of $1.61 million, down 86.7 percent year on year. The main supplier of semi-finished steel product imports in the given period was Russia, which supplied 84.78 percent of the total import volume, followed by the Czech Republic which supplied 10.31 percent of the total import volume, and Moldova with 4.91 percent.
