Ukraine’s Makeevsk to commission mill 390 in May 2009

The Ukrainian steel producer Makeevsk Metallurgical Plant (Makeevsk) has announced its plans to commission its longs rolling mill 390 in May of 2009.

The new mill will produce 700,000 mt of sections and long products annually, including 10-60 mm diameter rounds, 32-75 mm angles, No. 5-8 size channel bars, 8-32 mm rebar and other special profiles.

The main equipment of the new mill is produced by German company MWE.

Commenting on the new mill 390, Makeevsk general director Enver Tzkitishvili stated that, since the design stage, the project for the construction of the mill has undergone considerable changes and that, upon completion, it will be the most up-to-date mill 390 in the Ukrainian metallurgical sector.

The total project investment amounts to UAH 660 million ($142 million).
