Ukraine's Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant (DEMZ) has announced that in January-July this year it increased its steel melting volume by 20 percent year on year to 365,300 mt.

Meanwhile, in July DEMZ melted 90,000 mt of steel, equal to its pre-crisis output level reached in October 2008.

DEMZ's share of supplies to the domestic market increased to 15 percent of its overall deliveries. To Donetskstal alone, DEMZ delivered a total of 13,500 mt of 130 mm and 150 mm square billets made from ordinary and alloyed steel.

In addition, DEMZ also resumed active cooperation with Ukrainian raw material suppliers. Thus, almost all graphite electrodes used by DEMZ in July were supplied by Ukrainian company Ukrgraphite.
