Ukraine’s coking coal output decreases by seven percent in 2010

According to the data issued by Ukraine's Ministry of Coal Industry, in 2010 Ukraine's mining companies increased their aggregate coal output by four percent compared to 2009 to 75.166 million mt.

Specifically, Ukraine's production of coking coal in 2010 amounted to 23.978 million mt - down seven percent, while its output of power-generating coal totaled 51.188 million mt - up 10 percent, both compared to 2009.

Meanwhile, in 2010, the state-owned mines controlled by Ukraine's Ministry of Coal Industry produced 38.45 million mt of coal, including about 7.455 million mt of coking coal - down 17.8 percent year on year, and 30.995 million mt of power-generating coal - up 5.8 percent year on year.
