According to preliminary data, in the January-February period of this year
Ukraine registered a 13 percent increase year on year in its finished steel product output to 4.903 million mt and a nine percent rise in its
crude steel output to 5.535 million mt.
In the first two months of 2011,
Ukraine saw a four percent increase in its
pig iron production to 4.617 million mt and 10 percent growth in its coke output to 3.162 million mt, both compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, in January-February this year,
Ukraine's
production of steel pipes went up by 66 percent year on year to 348,000 mt, while its output of hardware increased by 12 percent year on year to 42,000 mt.
In its
iron ore segment, in the two months in question
Ukraine mined 12.501 million mt of
iron ore - up two percent year on year. Its
iron ore concentrate
production increased by five percent to 10.434 million mt, its pellet
production went down by five percent to 3.388 million mt, while its agglomerate
production rose by six percent to 6.646 million mt, all compared to January-February 2010.
